Almost Just Friends (Wildstone, #4) Almost Just Friends follows Piper, and her siblings, as they navigate being adults and living together under the same roof There s also the hot new guy in town to give plenty of romance and angst The POVs switch between Piper, Cam hot new guy , and Piper s siblings This gives the story a rich, full feeling by adding layers of details and emotions While there is plenty of romance for a Shalvis book, this one had of a self discovery feel to it Every single character was working through one of multiple issues throughout the book Overall, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of Shalvis other works, romance readers, or someone wanting good chick lit. This book was received as an ARC from HarperCollins Publishers William Morrow Paperbacks in exchange for an honest review Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.Jill Shalvis is very popular in our romance collection and always circulates very well so I knew I was diving into another page turner right from the start Almost Just Friends tells the story of Piper who is very Independent and self sufficient and when her brothers and sisters leave to start their lives she is destined to sell her childhood lakehouse and then she is finally free on her own As she preps for the sell, a treacherous storm hits and damages the house and then she meets Camden, a stranger who is new to the area and everything starts to change Piper s siblings return and instead of abandoning them, Piper is drawn closer to them all because of her growing relationship with Camden and could he be the one opening her eyes to all she has missed and all that she is This was a heartwarming story that will leave your heart full The relationship between Camden and Piper is reflected by the lessons and blessings that we all take for granted in life and this book is a wonderful reminder of all that is important. We will consider adding this title to our Romance collection at the library That is why we give this book 5 stars. New York Times Bestselling Author Jill Shalvis Returns To Wildstone With The Touching Story Of Finding Your Place In The World And The People Who Make It HomePiper Manning S About As Tough As They Come, She S Had To Be She Raised Her Siblings And They Ve Thankfully Flown The Coop All She Has To Do Is Finish Fixing Up The Lake House Her Grandparents Left Her, Sell It, And Then She S FreeWhen A Massive Storm Hits, She Runs Into A Tall, Dark And Brooding Stranger, Camden Reid There S A Spark There, One That Shocks Her Surprising Her Further, Her Sister And Brother Return, Each Of Them Holding Their Own Secrets The Smart Move Would Be For Piper To Ignore Them All But Cam Unleashes Emotions Deep Inside Of Her That She Can T Deny, Making Her Yearn For Something She Doesn T Understand And Her Siblings Well, They Need Each OtherOnly When The Secrets Come Out, It Changes Everything Piper Thinks She Knows About Her Family, Herself And Cam Can She Find A Way To Outrun The Demons The Answer Is Closer Than She Thinks Just As The New Life She Craves May Have Already Begun Almost Just Friends is a story about family, romance and life in general Set in Jill Shalvis Wildstone series, readers are introduced to the Mannings and the Hayes Like previous books in the Wildstone series, Almost Just Friends is like a life in general story with a central romance Both Piper and Cam will steal readers heart with their prickly armor, tendency for no commitments and strong familial bonds Both characters self journey are delved into deeply which makes for a satisfying story and a fantastic romance It s a happily ever after all around but I deeply adore Cam and Piper s journey most of all. Jill Shalvis creates the most remarkable places Wildstone is one of her newest towns and the characters in this place are really heartwarming In this story we are introduced to EMT Piper Manning and her siblings The three have had a rough go of life and are just trying to find their path I fell in love with Piper and her quirky ways Piper meets her neighbor s son, Camden Reid Camden happens to be a Coast Guard and DEA agent Cam is Piper s opposite and you know what they say about opposites attracting. This book really wrung some emotions out of me which means it was FANTASTIC I highly recommend this fourth book in the Wildstone series. It was 5 stars until the end It was going strong and seemed to fray a little at the end.As always, Jill s characters grabbed me from the beginning Her Wildstone series entertains like all the rest of her books, but somehow they delve deeper into relationships and family dynamics I love her characters because they make me feel like I am not alone in my flaws and inadequacies Also, they help me see that those flaws are what make me who I am I ve learned to accept that there are some things I cannot change and others that are just stepping stones to a better me.Piper and Cam s relationship was fantastic I love that it didn t have the will they, won t they push and pull From the beginning you could tell that it was a for real thing for both of them With Piper s siblings bringing their own drama and hiding things from Piper and Cam being sent out on some small missions with the Coast Guard, their relationship has some ups and downs, but their foundation was strong enough to pull them through Jill writes characters that I want as friends and they create communities that I d love to join Her books always have just the right amount of sizzle to keep me coming back for. Jill Shalvis writes the dreamiest male characters and the most knee weakening interactions Piper looks forward to living her life finally, with both younger siblings off on their own But they return, along with a hot new neighbor, who turns her world upside down as do all the secrets everyone is keeping from her Reading a Shalvis book is like tearing through a bag of cookies you inhale every one and look eagerly toward the next Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the great read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I liked the premise of this book, but it seemed very formulaic and familiar somehow I feel like I ve read too many books like this and Jill Shalvis did not do much to distinguish this book. Perfectly imperfect people finding their HEA in a world that had a lot against them But in the end family is everything Almost Just Friends was a heartfelt read from the get go, gluing me to the cast s plight to find happiness and acceptance All the while they are working through the scars life has left on them and still keeping a sense of humor during the journey.Relateable, heart felt and with the perfect amount of humor, Shalvis out did herself in this fantastic read.I received this ARC copy of Almost Just Friends from William Morrow This is my honest and voluntary review Almost Just Friends is set for publication Jan 21, 2020. Another can t miss Jill Shalvis read
